Ghana

April 2026
Seasonal rains commenced timely in March in the southern part of the country, allowing land preparation and maize planting to begin. Planting of rice crops in the south is also underway as of April, with rainfall over the last month being above-average and supporting sowing activities. In the north, seasonal dry weather still prevails; however, planting for millet and sorghum is expected to begin in May–June with the onset of the rains. While a slight delay to the start of the season has been observed in the Northern region, it is still very early, and there is ample room for conditions to improve. The Copernicus C3S Multimodel seasonal rainfall forecast for May–June 2026 points to average rainfall conditions across the country.
