El Salvador

August 2026
In August, the primera crops (maize and beans) should be in the harvest stage, while rice and sorghum should continue the vegetation stage. Rainfall in the past month has been more than 40% below average which might have hindered the correct development of the crops, especially in the grain producing Eastern region. In fact, poor vegetation conditions are observed in the 26% of the Coastal region and in the 75% of the Eastern region cultivated areas. According to the Copernicus C3S Multimodel forecast, there is a very high probability that conditions will be very direr than normal throughout the end of November, which will likely affect second cycle crops development.
