Cuba

April 2026
In April, minor cycles of maize and rice should normally be in harvest stage and the main cycle of rice starting the sowing stage. However, despite limited fuel supplies from Russia arrived in the country, the humanitarian needs in the country remain quite acute and persistent (UN) and shortages of fuel are hindering the timely harvest of the cold season crops and preparation of land in the previous months.
Above average rainfall continued through April in the central western part of the country but forecasts from June through August indicate a high probability of drier than normal rains (Copernicus C3S multimodel). This suggests negative prospects for the correct development of the main cycle of maize and rice.
