Rice area planted is likely to be lower as a direct response to declining farmgate prices and high existing inventories (BBVA). Rainfall at the beginning of last month remained above normal in all the country, which has not yet recovered
from the February floods and remains in a state of humanitarian crisis as of late March 2026. According to the (Copernicus C3S Multimodel), there is a high probability that conditions will be very dryier than normal in the north western part of the country persist through the next months till June.
