Colombia

April 2026
In April, the main cycles of maize and rice are normally in a late sowing stage, as well as barley, sorghum and wheat, while the minor cycle of rice is continuing the harvest.
After the heavy rains causing flooding at the beginning of the year, rainfall in the past month has been below average in the eastern part of the country, including the grain producing departments of Tolima and Valle del Cauca. According to the (Copernicus C3S Multimodel), there is a very high probability that conditions will be drier than normal in the north western part of the country through the next months till August, affecting the most sensitive stages of crop growth thus indicating negative prospects for the harvest.
