Rains have begun across most parts of the country, marking the start of the first season crop planting. Sustained and well-distributed rainfall in the coming dekads and throughout the season will be essential for proper crop development. ICPAC forecasts for April to June indicate normal to above-average rainfall in most regions, except for some areas in the south. In the second dekad of March, vegetation conditions deteriorated significantly compared to previous periods. However, the ongoing rains are expected to enhance pasture conditions. Between February and June 2025, which aligns with the lean season, IPC projects acute food insecurity to worsen gradually from March onward for the refugee hosting districts. Without timely interventions, the number of people in Phase 3 or above is expected to rise from 797,000 to 953,000 by the end of the period.
