Nicaragua

February 2026
In February, the maize and beans apante season (third cycle) completes its growing stage, with the harvest set to begin in March. The sowing of main season irrigated rice is nearing completion.
Rainfall over the last month has been average across the country; however, poor crop conditions are observed in the department of Rio San Juan due to earlier rainfall deficits (approximately 40% below-average cumulative rainfall between early November and early January). Crop conditions are affected to a lesser extent in the department of Chontales. Conditions are forecast to be drier that normal until the end of May in the central and western parts of the country (Copernicus C3S Multimodel), which might hinder the normal establishment of the primera cycle crops.
