Haiti

June 2026
In June, the main cycle of maize is in the harvesting stage while sorghum and the main cycle of rice are in the sowing stage. While rainfall conditions remain generally supportive of vegetation growth, the actual ability of farmers to capitalize on this remains hindered by continued socio-economic instability and the persistent fuel crisis. Security constraints are limiting access to agricultural land, inputs, labor, and markets, particularly in the Ouest, Artibonite, and Centre departments.Forecasts for the next months show a high probability of very drier than normal conditions through September, which might prevent a correct development of the rice and maize main season (Copernicus C3S Multimodel). IPC estimates for the March-June period 2026 indicate that 53% of the population is likely to face high levels of acute food insecurity, with almost 2 million people in Emergency (IPC Phase 4) mainly due to armed violence and high inflation (IPC).
