Haiti

March 2026
In March, the second cycle of rice concludes the harvest stage while the main cycle of maize normally starts the planting phase.Rainfall has been average to above-average in the past three months, with generally favourable conditions of crop and rangeland across the country. The ongoing national displacement crisis (>1.45 million IDPs) continues to rise in the departments of Centre, Grand Nord and Artibonite (OCHA).The seasonal forecast through April indicates above-average rainfall throughout the country (Copernicus C3S Multimodel), which might benefit the sowing of the main maize cycle. However, IPC projections covering the period between March and June 2026 indicate that 53% of the population is likely to face high levels of acute food insecurity, with almost 2 million people in Emergency (IPC Phase 4) mainly due to armed violence and high inflation (IPC).
