Guatemala

March 2025
Rice (second) completed the harvest stage with overall good prospects. Rainfall has been poor to very poor in the past month, however its impact on the establishment of the main season seems minor so far and vegetation conditions appear normal in most areas. Rainfall is forecast to be above normal in all the country until the end of June (Copernicus C3S Multimodel). This should favour the establishment of the main cycles of maize and rice. It is estimated that 5.5 million people (about 50% of the population) experienced high levels of acute food insecurity in March 2024 (IPC TWG Haiti).
